I got the crosses, they look better than jeeps. Maybe thats the sensor at work. No jeeps permitted on the forum. Matt

I saw one of the pics in one of the 4wd mags. They look functional, and i can see why Vlad would buy one, after all it is a better option than a cruiser. But i still would chase a second hand 130 twin cab or a cab chassis. mattOriginally posted by DiscoTDI

It is a nice looking ute, but I'd have to agree with ace. I'g go for a second hand 130 or 110 if that was the option. After all no matter how good it looks it's still not a Land Rover.
I almost spat coffee all over the laptop when I read this line on the website

QUOTE

If the Gladiator is any indication, ground clearance will also be considerably better - which will be helpful given the new competition from Hummers, Porsches, and the like.

That is sooooooooooo funnnnnnaaaay
Yeah ground clearance is about 10cm more than current Jeep (and Landy for that matter). The 18 inch diameter rims help a bit.
The main advantage that Jeep holds is, that while LR is pushing its product range upmarket (read up $$$) Jeep still spans a fairly good range from about $40K upwards. Since (excluding the soon to be unavailable 90) the only proper Land Rover will cost over $50K and the Disco upwards odf $70K even for the 'cheapie' it appears that Jeep has a keen pirce advantage.
This is likely to see more first time buyers attracted to that marque, rather than LR - building brand loyalty for them.
I suspect Ford's plot is to have LR positioned well upmarket (as aspirational vehicles) and slot the Ford branded stuff like Territory, and whatever else it is they sell, in below that. Not a good idea as far as I can see.
The broader the customer base the better the long term chances of survival and even profitability are likely to be.

Agree completely Vlad! Although LRA are reducing the breadth of their line-up at the moment.![]()
I also hear that Toyota are working on a crewcab for their 78 series. Once again, this is a market that LRA has pretty much to themselves with the 130, yet have failed to exploit it. Toyota have obviously listened to their customers and are prepared to tool up and invest to capture this market opportunity. It is disappointing LRA do not have the same vision.

A crew cab Land Cruiser.
While this would be real shame at least it would give us a bit of ammo...

"A crew cab 'cruiser ? Is that so twice as many people can get stuck?"
