D90 Conspiracy Theory

I reckon the reason why LRA are trying their best to kill off the D90 is because they see it as a threat to the Freelander.

Think about it.....a properly priced D90 in the low-mid $30,000 range would be undercutting the Freelander by a significant margin. To the trendy set looking for small 4x4, this would cut right into the Freelander market. Lets face it, the D90 is a schmick little vehicle.

The interior might turn a few of the chardonnay brigade away, but the pricing would be competitive. ****e....you might also take some wrangler sales away...heavens forbid.

Who is the master mind behind the killing off of the D90 in Australia???? None other than the former head of Marketing for the Freelander in the UK/Europe.....Mr Steve Morten, current head of LRA. 8O

Cannot think of any other reason in killing off the D90.

I think it's ridiculous, getting rid of the most capable 4*4 on the market. Without even trying to sell the thing properly.

I left school in Y10 and I am pretty sure I could manage LRA better.
Probably not much, but enough!
If D3 was well pre-sold in the US, I wonder how the pre-sales are going out here?

Im not to sure about sales in the US,only time will tell, tho with no doubt with Ford behind i,it will proberly do well, which i dont know weather thats a good thing or a bad thing

What i fail to see is that it being named as the 2005 Sport/Utility of the Year, which baffles me,how can it be suv of the year if it hasnt even been on sale for a year to prove its self.......... 8O

Personally i dont like it.................Tho i bet u can guess that already

I was with a girl trying to convince her to buy a TD5 Disco Country when she noticed the sweetest little D90 in the lot and said it was nice. I told her it was probably the best looking car currently for sale in Australia (a big call, I was at Barbagellos and there were Jags, Alfas, Ferraris Maseratis etc just over the road, not to mention the new rangies right there. A big call and I stand by it. Best looking new car on any lot in Australia full stop.) I also told her that they were not bringing in any more.

A salesman popped his head round and said "Correct"

"Why is that?" I asked. he said "Too expensive"
"Well that's your fault" I replied toeing the AULRO line like a good newbie.

Anyway perhaps we are being harsh on LRA. Maybe LRA can't get them landed here for any less. Theyre not exactly built by robots using the latest and cheapest processes. My own pet conspiracy theory is this. Land Rover probably makes next to stuff all $ on Defenders sold anywhere. They probably only make them as a marketing exercise for other vehicles and they probably don't want to make any more than they are making.
