You entitled to your "opinion ", but evidence is agaonst you. What are the policies of Hamas regarding Israel who where elected by majority? The policies of Egypt regarding both Israel and people who's ancestors where not Egyptian, the policies of ISIS? The policy of Iran regarding Israel, the u.s etc. Lebanon? Syria? Sudan?
Parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan where they share their love of Hindus and Osama bin laden was living for how long?
Parts of our neighbours, Indonesia, the largest Muslim nation on earth, have fundamentalists who bombed Bali.
Indonesia is an example where the fundamentals are in a minority, but what about the others? Places where the fundamentals have either been elected or have a firm grip on the Govt.
Finally 3 of my Christian grandparents enlisted to fight Hitler and his bloody genocide, one lost his brother at tobruk. How many Muslims are lining up to join the ADF to help stop the slaughtering of innocents in Iraq, Syria etc?
Ok, I admit some hyperbole. Perhaps he wasn't devout but he was Christian at least for part of his life. Supposedly he believed in Christianity early on but then changed his ideals as they didn't agree with his Nazi philosophies. He still believed in an "almighty creator" but not a Christian god later in his life. But are you saying that I'm the only one prone to hyperbole in this thread? All I'm saying is that I believe that the current problem of extemists or fundamentalists is caused by military occupation. Increasing military action will only increase the problem. The fact that they are Muslim is secondary to the fact that someone has invaded their country. Islam is not to blame in this instance. In fact it's the convenient scape goat. But if those in this thread want to fear those who believe in the Koran over those who believe in the Bible, go right ahead. IMHO they are both fairy tales. To fear another for their religious beliefs is xenophobic by definition. There are many people on this forum that do just that.Quote:

On your third comment, Leviticus 19:19 is what I was meant. As the bible says its a no-no in that verse and chapter to wear clothes of two different materials. I was trying to highlight that the Bible has some ridiculous sections in it too but people still believe it's the word of God. Just as others believe in the Koran.
On your fourth and fifth comments, do all Muslims find it offensive to have a teddy named after Mohammed? Or is that just a 'fact' that aligns with your set of beliefs about Islam not being as accepting as Christianity?
I understand that people feel passionately about this issue but as I said I don't have the answers. In my view the issue of fundamentalist has been caused by invasion. Nothing more.
I'm sorry that you lost relatives in the war Frantic. So did I. That's why I am scared ****less of history repeating itself and this turning into WW3. Because the USA has mismanaged the issues in the Middle East we may all suffer as a result.
Here is an interesting issue local to me: the Bendigo Mosque issue. Shepparton has 4 mosques and has never had a fundamentalist issue. So what's the problem Bendigo?

It is right to be concerned about Islam. Unfortunately, the extremists are the ones who are actually living the teachings of their faith which condones violence in the cause of Islam.
