As soon as I heard this on the news this morning I knew there would be thread on here as I thought to my self there would have to be cynics pop up.

Well Dave, you did not let me down.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Well known tory trick - beat the drums of war or scaremonger (or do both if possible)

It worked for pig-iron bob and for little johnny ......

does this make it a political comment ?

Of course trouble will only likely happen somewhere else, not in our space.
If and when the bombs go off on our soil and folks are killed, we will be up in arms and demand that somebody else do something.
I dont have alot of sympathy for us.

    Just in the news, quote:

    Breaking news
Court documents expected to reveal terror plot involved filming the beheading of a member of the public

New South Wales Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said the raids targeted people who were planning to inflict "serious violence on a random member of the public".

AFP Acting Commissioner Andrew Colvin said police "believe that this group that we have executed this operation on today had the intention and had started to carry out planning to commit violent acts here in Australia".

That explains why we had a helicopter above us early this morning. I was too tired to make much sense out of it. The only thing I thought was it could be a police operation but didn't expect it to be of that scale. Several months ago we had the same thing but on that occasion an elderly gent with dementia was lost in Lane Cove National Park and hadn't returned home the previous day.

If the early reports turn out to be correct it would seem the police were quite justified in acting.

Just noticed one of the houses raided in Sydney was in a street where I used to live a long time ago. Was a very quiet little street then.
Appears a single tapped phone call two days ago contained the conversation which triggered the raids.
So I guess this confirms the authorities do already have the ability to monitor suspicious calls.
