    Disco td5 battery help

Hello folks. Sorry if this is in wrong area, i cant seem to pick discovery via the phone app thing. But after last weeks break down which was alternator. Should have heard it lol! But it got replaced, all was well and now my disco will not start. It doesn't even try to turn over. Just dead. I suspect battery has died completely as it wasnt healthy with not reading correct charge, and then alternator issues i assume its a goner. Now and then id get a click but it was so fast if you were not car savvy you wouldn't even notice it. Battery terminals are clean and tight. Currently the battery is 950cca. Do they need such big cca or is that for running extras like fridge etc? Battery world want 289 for the same as my current but as i am not cluey on batterys i thought id make sure id get a good one and best bang for my buck. I got to enjoy dads classic 2 door rangie today boy is it lovely. I have had a little google on the forum to try find out more info on batteries but as i unexpectedly lost a very close person last week, ive not been in a good place, and with sorting out funeral things, etc ive not had chance to do more. She was a fellow landrover lover/owner so please send her a wave. (And hold loved ones close especially those battling depression which is a very real killer :'()
So far ive found CAT batteries seem to be a popular choice, where might one find those in the adelaide hills?

So sorry to hear about your friend. It is never easy, and as you say, it is important to hold those around you close.

As for the battery issue, the Cat batteries seem to be the battery of choice.

Cant help with a dealer up your way, but maybe if you give them a call in the morning, they can suggest someone. They may even have a rep going up there that can take one with them.

Even got the number for you:

    General Enquiries: Ph. 08 8343 1600

CAT all the way Leonie! They're about $250 for the 1000CCA one.

I was swayed by all the positive reviews when I was looking.

Personally, I'd recommend the Optima Blue D31M and Optima recommend the Yellow D31A. You'll get about 9-10 years out of them which is a lot lot more than most batteries.

Cost: $500 about 10 years ago, $650-750 now. I just bought one which was sent direct from Optima in Melbourne (I think) $359 delivered to your door via this mob in QLD. At that price, for that battery its a no brainer.
NQWTT Home Page in this section of their website optima batteries - Optima Batteries

They do sell a range of battery brands though, not just Optima. I didn't see CAT on there
    Cheers

Leonie - for Cat batteries, try the farm machinery suppliers up there. I've found that type of business will often carry Cat batteries - they're commonly used in some tractors / harvesters etc.
    Cheers .........

There is a battery specialist at Nairne called Power Packed Batteries, proprietor Peter, phone 8388 0669. He's pretty knowledgeable about batteries in general and can order in whatever he doesn't stock.

Well got a new battery and my disco is still dead. Alternator was changed last weekend and everything was fine. Then drove around a couple times. Had a couple weird starts but it started. Made a click before it would start. All fuses seem ok. Im lost as to what is making it not start. All dash lights, central locking etc come on. There is just no life when try to turn it on. Is there something small im missing here??
