There is no doubt that their security people and ours are as well as those of Germany, Britain etc are sharing info. Ask teachers in some areas about the tribal divide amongst 2nd and third generation children of middle eastern parents in our high schools... !

Frankly I get very ****ed off with the continual cynicism on these matters... it is a real issue and I am pleased to see whoever is in the chair doing something about it. Look what happened when the USA hesitated to intervenve in Kosovo in the early days...Europe looked the other way and genocide became the norm

..Russia et al have not stepped up in Africa re. the Ebola epidemic... but American parents are expected to send their sons and daughters there as well because no-one else will. I certainly don't agree with US policy "all the way"... but let's be gracious enough to give credit where it is due...
One of my brother's freinds went to the US and he said that everywhere he went the yanks wouldn't let him pay for meals once they learned he was Australian. "We don't have many allies so we need to look after them." was what he was told.

    That's pretty good!

    Thumbs up

Yeah Hoges, there's a few U.S. "Knockers" on here, I ain't one of 'em.
They've done some great things, I remember during the "First" Iraqi War, there was a terrible cyclone/storm in India, can't remember exactly what it was, but it was really bad, & George Bush Snr diverted the US 6th Fleet there to help. Don't know of any other Country that does that sort of stuff,...but they get very little credit for it?
Of course, they've done some not so good stuff too, but IMHO, the good far out weighs the bad.

the fact remains that in the case of the French, to say thay run? hide? surrender or collaborate?. is simply untrue, regardless of many jokes claiming that it is.

Indeed........ I had a little to do with the french army way back in my younger era.
According to the British historian Niall Ferguson, France has participated in 168 major European wars since 387 BC, out of which they have won 109, drawn 10 and lost 49: this makes France the most successful military power in European history - in terms of number of fought and won

De Gaulle lived in Hampstead, England 1942 to 1944 ad from there he directed the resistance.
No one considered as action of run away from the German invasion, it was a tactic retreat seven supported by Churchill.
    Churchill said about De Gaulle:

"He felt it was essential to his position before the French people that he should maintain a proud and haughty demeanour towards "perfidious Albion", although in exile, dependent upon our protection and dwelling in our midst. He had to be rude to the British to prove to French eyes that he was not a British puppet. He certainly carried out this policy with perseverance".

When I posted this, I did not mean it to be a go at the French. Perhaps I was misunderstood. The saying came from a " Simpsons " cartoon episode, and taken up by US politicians when the French refused to join the coalition against Iraq in 2003. I have always thought it bit rich for Americans to knock the French , when without the French Fleet, they would not have been victorious in the Revolutionary War. And , the French had lost over a million men, before the Americans decided to take up the fight in WW1. As one prominent observer has said, the Americans don't have allies, they have interests. Bob

You may be sure that the Americans will commit all the stupidities they can think of, plus some that are beyond imagination.

Like I said, this site has some U.S. "Knockers", who will never, ever, give credit for the GOOD things that the U.S. has done, and they have done plenty.
Chuc, Had the U.S.not been on our side in WW11, & been in the Pacific where hundreds of thousands of U.S. boys died, fighting for freedom in this part of the World, you wouldn't have been living the life you lead in the lovely place that is Tasmania, which without the "help" of the U.S. would most certainly have been under the control of "Mr. Nippon".
