Chuc, Had the U.S.not been on our side in WW11, & been in the Pacific where hundreds of thousands of U.S. boys died, fighting for freedom in this part of the World, you wouldn't have been living the life you lead in the lovely place that is Tasmania, which without the "help" of the U.S. would most certainly have been under the control of "Mr. Nippon".

Easy Pickles, if Russia have not sacrificed millions of life we do not know what will be now.
It was not USA that won the war, give credit to the other people from many nations as well.

I posted one fron Charles De Gaulle that he used to have more knowledge about the Americans and the third front than you and me.
now I post a quote of Roosevelt to be even

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.
    Theodore Roosevelt

    Food for thoughts I guess..................

Chuc, years ago I knew a German Tank Commander from WW11, & we talked about all sorts of stuff, including various thoughts, documentaries, theories about this & that relative to WW11, about why they lost & the Allies won etc etc.
His own words to me were "We were beating the **** out of everyone until the U.S. entered the War.We simply could not cope with the might of the U.S.A."
As far as Russia is concerned, if they had not been supplied with stuff from the U.S., they would not have made the Victories that they did. (And hey, don't get me wrong, I'm glad they did!

Pickles, I do have not intention to not give credit to the USA and the sacrifice of their soldiers helping to stop Germany and Japan.
It will be no justice and respect for all the life lost and sacrifice of the soldiers and civilians if we give credit to a hand full of countries.
All those involved are in out thoughts and gratitude.
Regarding your impression that I am USA knocker, I have appreciate what the American people have done and doing for the progress in science and their sacrifice for their beliefs.
I have American friends and many of them do not have much resspect for their leaders, present and pass.
I do not have any respect for those in power (in any country for that matter) that in the name of greed for power to impose their political views, financial gains, etc at the cost of human life.
    Cheers

    Question

Your last line could apply to almost any Country in the world, at some point in time in their history, & when it suited them to take the "unsavoury" actions that you speak of,& which are to some extent true.
But like I said my friend, the U.S. has done lots of good stuff too, just that it appears to me that you, and others, (not just on this forum of course) seem to focus a bit more on the negative stuff?

Pickles, you have to see from where (country and region) coming the people that have found more negative than positive or better instead how serious were the negative aspects to cancel the positive ones.
We all have different experiences in life and our points of view are formed in relation to them.

Absolutely, Soviet Russia fought and won 90% of the battles in the European theatre that lead to the capitulation of the Nazis. However had they not signed a non-agression pact with the Japanese, they may have had less success against Germany, because it was the release of the divisions from Siberia that allowed them to initially stop and start the push back of the Nazis in the first place.

Had the Japanese had to contend with the Soviets early in the Pacific War they may not have made the gains they did.

We will never know because its history, although the revisionists may think diffierently.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

And lost 100% that didn't. Think that 90% is a bit off the mark, Bob
