there must be some grand scheme as they were complaining over there about the same things....

Hi guys, i arrived in Rylstone this arvo for the local Kandos Rylstone Street machine show and went for a walk down the street to catch up with the locals. I went into the hardware to catch up with the guysi worked with during high school. Whilst talking to the boss, I asked how his son was going with his apprenticship (he is an apprentice mechanic at ford in dubbo), Ian told me that his son had just spent a week in Sydney doing a Land Rover tech course. He said that alot of the mechanics from the ford dealerships are being sent up to do it. I think our thoughts from the other thread might be right. By the sounds of this Ford is selecting mechanics from each of the dealerships to be trained in the ins and outs of Land Rovers. Sounds promising doesnt it. I still cant explain why Bathurst is losing the dealership when theyare already with ford. Matt

Indeed it will. Why were they complaining? I dont see it as a set back, i think it is a move in the right direction. If Land Rover sales and service will be abailable through ford, we might give toyo a run for their money, would it be safe to say there are more ford dealerships in Oz than toyo and nissan? all they will be trained to do is use the diagnostics computer to retreive faults on new models, a basic introduction and how it works.
they still wont have product experience.
try taking them something out of warranty to get repaired....like some v8 with twin carbies![]()
i think we need to download , borrow ,steel , dig out whatever workshop manuals we can find and just carry on helping each other to do repairs ourselves rather than let others experiment with our pride and joys.
i dont see me going to a dealership after warranty runs out.
even now i do my own servicing, using the best oils and getting the job done at a fraction of the cost.
i know exactly what is done to my car.
where its been who has driven it...and how.
and i know the job is done proper.
by the way........for those that done have the faintest about spanners
if you would like to do your own oil changes brakes filters etc dont be afraid to try. its real easy. there are plenty of people here that can show you how or help out. and before you now it you will be able to get a job at your nearest ford dealership( you will have more product knowledge than a ford mechanic )

I am the same as you DZ, i do all my own work. What i am more pleased about is that Ford seem to be serious about joining forces and if this is the case, the closure of dealer ships around Oz, might just be a move to get them all with ford. Matt
