I am not sure i remember what cannon you are referring to. If i mentioned one, i was probably a joke. But i do know how to build one. I know of people building them using high pressure polly fitting, a ball valve and a portable air compressor. You need to make the pipe fiiting so that what ever you want to shoot fits snuggly into the end. The a ball valve (a gate valve opens to slow), and after the gate valve (we are working from the end of the barrel back) you need an air chamber (gall pipe is good and strong and wont blow out with any amount of air you can put in with a portable air compressor (a pressure gauge would improve safety as you can prevent it getting to high), and a way to fix a valve to it that is air tight and wont blow out or leak under pressure. (i dont know the best way to do this) once it is built, fill the chamber with air and when it is up to pressure crack the ball valve and hey presto, a cannon. You can also get similar results using an electric garden watering system solenoid in place of the ball valve, but i dont know how quick they open, they are less than $20 so it wont cost you a fortune if it doesnt work.


Either that or you can use pedros suggestion with frozen oranges and pvc pipe. Gall pipe works better, if you can get it around the same size as a can of hair spray. Make a v shape with some steel piping or something similar and rest the pipe on the v like a gun on a tripod. Make the end of the gall pipe with a threaded fitting on the end. Light a small fire pop a can of hair spray in the end, and then a frozen orange on top of it. Place the end of the pipe (with the cap srewed on) over the fire and stand well clear, once the hair spray lets go, the orange will shoot further than you imagine.

Mine had a flash suppressor and worked best with lemon ruski bottles wrapped with a packing tape driving band.
The firing chambver of a mates exploded in his groin! No damage, much amusement!

I wont encourage the cannons,sound a bit over the top.

The water rocket launcher.
We have made many,the best and safest is as follows.
1x 1/2" ball type gate valve.
1x 400mm 1/2" retic riser
Poly fittings to fit riser to gate valve
brass fitting to fit into gate valve to hook air hose onto.

The riser is a snug fit into all softdrink bottles.Whichever size bottle you use,1/3 full of water seems to be the ideal water amount.Connect the launcher to compressor hose,stick the riser into the bottle,piont up into the sky holding the neck of the bottle onto the riser as hard as you can,crack the valve open with the other hand.When you cant hold the bottle anymore let it go.

Apparently the bottles handle 120psi safely.We have launched from a elcheapo compressor,just takes longer to build up pressure,so a good ARB etc style compressor would work well,you would have to sort out a car valve fitting for the gate valve.

The best rocket Lindsay made was a 500ml coke bottle with 4 triangle wings and 1/2 a tennis ball glued to the nose.The tennis ball is for cushioning on landing,the bottles tend to crack after 10 landings or so without.Lindsay uses liquid nails in a cartridge gun for glue.Hot glue guns are no good,the glue isnt waterproof.

MAKE SURE THE LAUNCH OPERATOR WEARS AT LEAST SUNGLASSES,IF KIDS GET THEM SAFETY GLASSES.The exhaust jet of water is very strong.
