Thanks for your point of view Yeats.
It's good to hear it from both sides of the fence that's what helps us improve things and hopefully you will keep visiting even if you don't subscribe :)

Anyway, when all is said and done, any forum needs to be able to support itself without being an ongoing drain on the pockets of a few or one. The decision is fair and reasonable. Realistically, the numbers will balance out. Those who find the forum valuable will support it and increase the available funds to run it. Those who do not find the forum valuable will either leave or visit less, thereby reducing the bandwidth and other costs. So it'll sort/balance out in the end. It's big enough to be self-sustaining, and won't die, no matter what a few have to say to the contrary. Dave's decision to reduce the forums dependency on him personally is a sign that he considers it to be a community that needs to and can stand alone, and that it's not a place for a few mates and some hangers on.
I used to run (and still have, although it's dormant) d2au.com which at it's height had about 5% of the members of here. Even at that level it was stressful to keep up with everything that went on with running it. So for Dave to de-centralise somewhat from his own pocket and premises etc. will also reduce his stress levels and hopefully assist in his long term health.
I'm not at all going to tell you that you won't be missed, your feedback is as valid as anyone else's and is appreciated. Personally I didn't think this forum was like others - I'm a member of plenty but this one is very different IMO. With over 18,000 registered users - and more than 6,000 of those regulars, it is a bit more than a mates club. We try very hard here to keep the rudeness and smartarse things to a minimum.
I would like to think you will stick around to see how good this place is, but I entirely accept your decision if you don't. :)
Yeats, good feedback.
Certainly won't give you the "won't be missed" line...
Any contributions to the forum are looked upon favourably.
Wish you well with whatever you see suits your needs. Forums aren't for everyone.
You will get a lot from this place besides info though. It's a community of like minded people with genuine care for one another.
Yes, I'm outspoken at times - but my door is always open and I will help where I can.
Be well...
I have noticed that all the comments seem to be based on financial ability of this Forum to stay afloat into the future. Plans are being made to prevent the financial collapse of the Forum, as well they should be.
The other thing that I have concerns about is the fact that as I see it ( not being a Mod, I don't know what goes on in the back room) the Forum relies mainly on the physical efforts of one person to function. Assisted by volunteers of cause. Not an ideal situation as any small business person can attest. What is the back up plan if the owner of this Forum is incapable by reasons of health to continue.
Thank you.
I believe that this forum is well run and feel that the moderators are doing an excellent job.
As a 'newbie', I just wanted to say how it appears to an 'outsider'. Which is where any new memberships will come from.
The thread section is can appear dominated by a relatively few number of 18000 members. Some of the posts seem to be posted almost is if they have nothing better to do. Whilst I agree that the activity of its members is the lifeblood of a forum, domination of a forum by (in some cases) by very pushy opinionated people, is off-putting. This forum used to be about the cars and the people behind the cars. Someone pointed out earlier that they felt like it was turning into 'the John Laws show'. I understand how they feel. Some of the content here might be better placed in 'facebook', rather than in a Land Rover forum. But perhaps I am wrong(?) Perhaps that is the 'community' aspect. But out of 6000 'active' members, that community can appear very insular at times.
But as I said before - I'm probably not a 'forum' person!
