Peace , man, back to the sixties. Beats what's happening at the moment. I have noticed my herb garden is looking good, ever since I planted the curry plant. Ahh, Mahatma. Bob

Thanks Inc ! Hope your health's on the up & up.

This is a site, primarily populated by "enthusiasts". It's not a wide open free for all, for all makes & models .... though sometimes ... It's a place where a bunch of broadly like minded folks gather to help, assist, learn and chew the fat about all things Land Rover, and all things related to the likes and interests & pursuits of those who are afflicted with the Land Rover disease !

I've met so many geat people since I started habitating AULRO. Made some good friends. Had some great outings. Learnt so much about my D2, and Land Rovers in general, and non Land Rover related stuff. I've happliy and eagerly passed on what I've learnt here, and from hands on experience, to all who've asked for help or advice, forum members and non members ... and regulary recommend the site to those who aren't aware of its existance ... 'cause we're Aussies and that's what we do ! There's a mateship here that I've never encountered on other forums I've participated on. I'm proud to be a subscriber and be associated with the place. Thank you to all of you ... You know who you are

I dropped off the radar for 12-18 months due to life & my business, and my sub's came due, and I renewed even though I wasn't currently being a participant. Why ? Because $27.50 is chicken feed !! Because I understand that the infrastructure to make all this happen costs someone hard earned money ... and this isn't a business as I see it. No ones pocketing a big fat profit from the proceeds of AULRO .. are they ? .... more like a charity as I see it Personaly I think this change will only strengthen AULRO. imho.

I think Inc's plan has plenty to offer everyone. Those who don't want to be a "part" of AULRO, but still want limited access to some possibly important info, will have a limited avenue to possibly meet their needs ... if they feel so, $11pa gets them a basic subscription ... the rest of us are already doing our bit, have been for a while, and are likley to do more as and when/if required.
$11pa ... $11pa and your too tight to pay $11 for a years subscription ... maybe your not Land Rover material

Yes, some will leave, maybe their not the type of members, the type who believe in the spirit of the place & culture that's eveolved here, who we need here. That's not a jibe at anyone, just stating a fact. We won't hold it against you.

Off my soapbox now. I've only been here a bit over 5 years so I'm still a young-un ... but I reckon this place rocks!!

Thanks Inc, and thanks to all of you again ... you know who you are !

Understanding that this isn't a debate though... Just voicing my concerns.

    People are fickle.

I understand what you are saying ... but the minimum cost is $11 per year.... $11 per year, not day/week/month ... per year! .....that is not a lot, seriously, is it?

That is not the same as being charged to give information.

Precisely .... covering the cost of the "roof" over our heads and making the lights come on and things go

Infrastructure cost I think it could be termed.

The problem for a lot of people, particularly those old fogeys who favour Landrovers, is not the money, but their reluctance to use credit cards or on-line financial operations.

However, you will note that incisor has covered this by providing multiple other methods of payment, so this is not an excuse.
