If you want to really put it in context; a limited few shared a huge amount of knowledge using this infrastructure so that many may gain assistance.

Some of us even did fund raisers to fund improvements to the infrastructure because what Dave is providing is such a valuable asset.

To complain that a resource this good is rude to then ask for support to maintain the rack space and server plus the huge data flow including the often pointless drivel posted by certain individuals; when that cost is so cheap - is just ridiculous.

Why should Dave wear the brunt of the cost so you have somewhere to come and talk crap?

Selfish... Seriously selfish.

Other forums have their main chat section strictly about 4wd topics. I think that General Chat should really be turned into General 4wd Chat. Most other forums have an Off topic section usually way down the menu for those subjects not related to 4wding and car brands in particular. I rarely go to the off topic sections of other sites as the general 4wd chat sections are usually quite interesting and non controversial. If the off topic posts are mixed in with the on topic posts then you do get sucked into reading them and replying because everyone else is just wrong and you have to tell them.

Hiding the menu items does work. For instance, I haven't read any computer or gps threads since they were moved off the direct menu. I couldn't be bothered unless I want to ask a question.

Granted its not a full user pays system, but if you want to have the same basic function as what's currently free then your paying.
