    Red-Bellied Giant.

How would you like to trip over this "little" beauty. It was found not far from where I live.

Yes, I read the article in another paper, it is a monster!!
I managed to capture one with the Nikon close to 2 meters long but not way near as thick as that!
This is the photo of the head of the one that managed to get. I was unable to get the full body, she was to long.

He reckons a red bellied black is the second most dangerous snake up around there. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought there was no recorded deaths caused by bites from red bellied blacks?

If he is anxious about red bellied blacks he better not come down here to Goulburn with all the angry little Tiger snakes around the joint and some of the Browns around here are massive.
    Cheers,
    Terry

We have plenty of Brown's around here too. Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard somewhere that the Red Belly will hunt down Browns and kill them, even though they are supposed to be shy around humans.

    ps Nice photo Chucaro!!!

red Bellied is the number 10 in Australia.
Taipan (inland and coast) Eastern Brown, Western Brown and the Tigers are more poison than the Red bellied

Yes red bellied blacks do kill Browns and as I thought there have been no deaths caused by one other than an infant in the 1800's. Here is a link that has a good run down on them and many other snakes as well as how to treat a snake bite if you or someone your with is unlucky enough to get bitten by one.

Who ever called that bloke to remove that snake is an idiot, the reason that snake is so big is because of all the rats it's eaten and yes it's true that red bellies go for browns,RB's are the best thing to have around other than diamond python's. Pat

Nice photo mate! How anyone can say that a snake is ugly is beyond me. We have some big browns, several red bellies, lots of carpet pythons, small eyed snakes, keel backs at the dam, red naped snakes & several tree & grass snakes. One grassie in particular is emerald green, a real stunner. Sadly I've never had a camera with me when I've seen it.
I don't how many red bellies the catcher has seen but to say they average a metre in length is a big call. That's rather small here.
    Steve
