He crashed agains to recovery crane who was retrieving another car.
Questions will be ask why the race was not stopped when Sutil car went out.

That article from BBC was interesting. A very unfortunate accident for Bianchi. As much a safety has improved, there is always an element that will create unpredictable accidents. Look at poor Maria before in testing. This accident is much the same the car hit an object that is at the same height as the drivers head and the object in comparison to the car is not going to give way. Hope they do find a solution to these types of incidents, from the pictures i have seen the roll hoops and head protection are unable to deal with these blunt forces. Bianchi's roll hoop was clean off from the top of the side protection, indicating he has likely gone under the rear of the tractor. As Nikki said its a risky sport and unfortunately we learn the hard way. Hopefully the review will identify better recovery methods. I never understood why when possible use cranes like they do in Monaco or pick the cars up from the other side.

Best of wishes Bianchi, hope you recover well!

Radio Monte Carlo reporting Bianchi needs another operation to stop bleeding. He has been intubated & placed on ventilation

It staggers me why they didn't stop the race after Sutil's crash? By all accounts they were waving double yellows at the corner before but given the rain I would be amazed if anybody saw them perhaps if it was a bright sunny day it would have been a suitable measure but it was far from bright and sunny ...

I think the FIA does what it can in regards to safety, but I do think in recent years it has been a bit complacent, especially in light of the testing crash as mentioned previously. I hope this is a massive wake up call for those in charge - granted motor sport is dangerous but nobody should wind up fighting for their lives no matter what their occupation is

I do hope Bianchi pulls through what seems to be getting worse by the hour if reports are to be believed
