My 85 has factory air, it has that large vertical York compressor.![]()
I had a 76 with AFAIR Alpinaire hang on, I presume aftermarket with a Kirby compressor low down on the LH side. The belt tensioner was always doing bearings as it was at about the lowest point of the belt run.
It had a fabricated steel mount.

I had an 81 in Saudi Arabia witha similar hang on again with a big piston compressor, fitted on an alloy bracket high on the RH side of the motor. I am pretty sure that one was factory as the bracket was a casting and nobody in Saudi Arabia at that stage was capable of fitting an airconditioner.

I had a '79 two door Rangie that had air-con. Can't remember the details of it, but I always believed it to be factory fitted.
Long time ago now - bought it in Fremantle and sold in Alice Springs.

Are you asking about the first ever fitted,or the first that actually cooled the car down? I am still waiting for one that works properly.![]()
My 76 Rangie had air, early Landies had 2/30 aircon

My 1973 Range Rover Classic had A/C
Not sure what brand I think it was AMC
My 1951 80" had a large aircon vent full width of the bulkhead. Fully open it was great, and stopped the dust being sucked in the back as an added bonus. Shame it didn't keep the bees out though.
