Natural progression... County to 98 Disco TDi :)

Hi guys, well after only 3 months I have decided to update the V8 County and today bought a 98 Model Disco TDi. It has 104,000k, is auto, great service history, drives like a dream (compared to the County ) and has a cd stacker blah blah blah... Not sure if I will be selling the County yet seeing as though it has a load of accessories on it, I may have to hold onto it for a weekend play thing... If anyone has any advice on what to look out for re the disco I would love to hear from you... Cheers

Robb well done.

Was that the one that Frank was advertising here?

Keep the County if you don't want to scratch the Disco.

The 98 should have had the usual suspects sorted: Timing belt, Input Shaft and the dreaded Dash Curl.

The 300Tdi is a great motor especially when coupled to the Auto and with that mileage has it just been run in.

You'll appreciate the fuel economy.

Hi Iota,

No its not the one Frank is selling, he sent me a PM but it had the wrong email addy on it so no contact. And he is in Bris and with me in Syd it would have made the deal hard to do...

I might keep the County, will see what I can get for it. Its not a bad thing on fuel as it has LPG as well so its ok, but first I have to see what I can salvage off it to put in the Disco, at this stage I think I will take the winch out of the winch bar and will have to find out if i can use the raised springs I have in the County and put them into the Disco... Maybe they are too heavy duty and too high...

Good luck with the new steed good move to keep the county i'd leave all the stuff on it not much will transfer anyway, with the Disco 60mm is as high as you should go i've been told apparently they vibrate if raised too high.

Good stuff robb, thats the same year and engine as mine. I love mine. Mine has done 65000km more than yours and still runs perfectly. The only problems i have had with mine are a leaking steering box, did that my self, repairs cost $180 instead of 600+ for a reco box, and a busted fitting on the lift pump. Check this one out because the line which goes from the lift pump to the top of the filter is to short and doenst allow for room to move when the engine moves around under load. The continual stress on the join on the brass fitting into the lift pump eventually breaks it and cause fuel to leak everywhere.

Dont worry about the BBQ, you will make it to the next one. Matt

The only good advice I can offer is to send the County my way.....
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
