Guess this is the latest scam

    Gday All,

In the last 4 days I have received 2 emails from the national bank ( of which I don't hold accounts and never have) telling me that the banks computers have had a shutdown and they need me to provide my details in the reply email with my accounts and the passwords. They even offered me $225 as a reward if I reply.
Also got one asking me to complete a survey and to identify me I had to provide my accounts and passwords.

    Cheers Ean

I had a guy come in through Ebay & switch off my anti virus & lock it so I couldn't turn it back on . When I took computer to get it cleaned they told me I was lucky I don't do internet banking because they were after my bank details & pass words to clean out our bank account.

I got an email 2 days ago saying GOD had chosen me for collection of $2million USD, I didn't know that atheists were being targeted now and I am not running a Jimmy Swaggert operation either. Got me best

I don't know how these low life's can install a virus . I may have open it thinking it was a genuine enquire about something I was selling , all I know I had a few L/R parts on ebay & was receiving lots of emails about them & my anti virus stoped working , we installed a free anti virus off the internet & that showed that it was through ebay & when I took it to be cleaned the computer shop checked & told me the same thing.

Would have been a phishing link in an email then sent to an eBay look alike site, most likely.

Never ever click on a link in an email that asks you to do something that you have not just previously initiated. For instance, you'd be fairly safe to assume that a verification email you received 30 seconds after setting up an account online would be legitimate. However, a random email, sent without you initiating the query, is extremely likely to be malicious. And the dead giveaway in a scam email is either promising some windfall (great aunt's third cousin left you $5m), or threatening account closure/limitation if the instructions (click this link) are not followed.
