Your point about recovering the cost of the conversion it is valid. 
The problem it is that chances are that once I start going camping again the average will be 15000 km or more a year if I cross the pond.
The final cost will depends for what I can get a RR in very good condition (from time to time here in Tasmania $4000) and if I can get a Disco in the same  conditions.After recondition the engine in the Disco, if the final figure it is considerable cheaper that the RR converted then the Disco will be considered.
So far the Discos that I have seen are well used nad not clean inside :(
