Certainly has. I remember years ago how much better they were. Experienced staff who knew their stuff, pretty good produce (albeit expensive) and new, clean shop. They used to get tour buses turn up full of people for lunch and dinner. It went downhill a hell of a lot. They've recently refurbished the joint. Not sure of the quality - I stopped going there years ago.

My family got out of the trawler fishing business about 15 years ago, but a good mate still has a trawler out of Scarborough. Luckily that means I know where my prawns and bugs come from, and how fresh they are.

The trawlers down here certainly don't have a water tank - it seems like a great move. I remember how depressing it was sorting prawns and watching the dead by-catch slide down the **** shute. The only benefit was to the dolphins and sharks (often swimming side by side) getting a feed.

Your probably right - I have been out of the game too long. One thing though, the inefficient operators have been moved out of the fishery.

He got stuck into the fish and chip industry.
They need to change the way they are sold.The biggest problem I see is they need to stop calling shark flake.It seems you could be getting anything not even shark.
In WA if you buy "fish and chips" you could get anything,however we name the species and get a quality product.ie if you want shark you normally have a choice of gummy,hammerhead,even whiskery shark in Albany.Snapper,dhu fish,whiting etc.The more popular the fish and chip shop usually the better choices of species.The cheapo fish and chip shops just sell "fish and chips",you have no idea of what you are eating.
He had a win with the gurmet pizza chain.They did a aussie prawn pizza vs imported prawn pizza tasting nite.Everyone picked the aussie prawn pizza and said they were willing to pay more,which worked out to be $2.00 a pizza.

I had to laugh when he was out with the shark fisherman, when he cut the shark he nearly spewed, he was not looking very well at all. Shark fishing is the worst type of fishing they stink when you cut the head and bleed them like they do.
I have no problems with them keeping the fins as long as they have the correct amount of sharks to match the fins then no problem, its when they cut the fins and toss the shark is just downright cruel.


I see our Brisbane branch got their 5 mins of fame, the auction is small but its actually pretty good, they have a pretty good selection each day.


Wasn't surprised with the pollies response, been there tried that.


Hope he has more success than we did.

As a purchaser,I love it.
Wanted to buy some FRESH aussie fish from Coles Narrogin last nite.The only aussie fresh fish was Crimsom Snapper at $35.00Kg It was poorly fileted,still had visible bones and stomach skin,the colour of the fillets looked like it was a few days old:mad::mad::mad:.You have got to be joking!!!!!
If I can ever get some top end Barra of you I will be a very happy man;););) Wallet is WIDE OPEN;);););)

I think he must have been a bit seasick. If you have watched his other shows he has slaughtered pigs and made sausages from the warm blood.
