    Ute Therapy

Decided last night it would be a good day to take the XT to work. A quick trip to the roadhouse and back the long way around the bypass with No1 daughter exclaiming that she likes to go fast, v8 utes do that to girls
The god of Itunes random playlists was smiling and my morning commute was filled with a bit of the Angels, Do Re Mi, Creedence , Buckcherry and the Beach Boys (does anyone even remember the dodgy 11 minute version of here comes the Night), Drivers window down, sunnies on and at 06:30 not a lot of traffic on the road.
The joy of over steer coming off the big roundabout on the Barton highway in 3rd with the secondaries wide open and the exhaust bellowing to the surprise of the driver in the inside lane in their Korean white goods on wheels.
Changing back to second at 4000RPM with the exhaust reverberating off the overpass as I get the green light onto the GDE.
Idling into work with an appreciative nod from the security dude at the roller door.
Leaving this afternoon with a gentle cruise home, the hot wind and faint smell of old petrol and warm oil reminding me that I'm driving a vehicle that rolled out of Broadmeadows when I was 3 years old.
Decided that in return I might wash the winter's dust off her before she went back in the shed, a couple of Bundys later, she still looks alright over 10 years after she was painted.

    Regards,
    Tote

The above was my first car with a 302 Cleveland Motor.
Had a lot of fun the few years I owned it & they certainly teach you how to control oversteer.
Don't think I've ever had another car that sounded so good through the 2&1/2" twin system.
3 on the tree & you could light her up in 3rd if you got it right.

Now you have me pining after my youth, which I was bloody lucky to survive.

A great bit of classic motoring there Tote. Great to see someone out enjoying a car like this - and especially loved the bit about surprising the driver of Korean whitegoods.

Reminds me of my old XW GTHO - wish I had never got rid of that thing.

Young kids in their souped up riceburners these days (including my own young bloke) just don't realize what they've missed out on.
    Cheers .........

My playtoy was a 51 Ford Twin Spinner Sedan "Custom" pre Customline,10:1 Edelbrock heads 4 x Stromberg 97's would only run on Av-gas,and I went looking for Monaro's and GT's to play with all with un-boosted drum brakes the plods eventually put it off the road as their station cars could not catch me.
