Same with us.

This just came to my attention, apparently written by another CFS member just after it happened.
Same as so many others he is a family man
Like us he is a working man
But he is also a volunteer with years of experience answering the calls
Protecting you, me, our properties. our families, our all.
He is a leader in his Brigade, a light for others to follow,
But today the brigade, the community, is crippled with such sorrow.
He left his family to answer the call, another crop fire running fast,
But on this call things went wrong, and this call became his last.
Don't sit there mute, don't look or walk away, stand up now people, show your grief
Make the pain of his loss known throughout the world
To let him pass quietly from here beggers belief
Stand proud and show respect, make sure for him the flag is at half mast unfurled.
Etch his name into stone,
Let it not fade from history
No one of us stands alone
As over the deadened flames we claim victory*
Put a red light on outside tonight
Let it burn each night for a week
Help this hero's spirit find its way to the light
And help his family find comfort wherever they seek
The world still turns, it won't slow or stop
And the calls they will keep coming through
But before we go to the next burning crop
Spare a thought for the man who died protecting you
Thank his family, thank his wife,
Thank all the men and women who risk their life
And remember when the next call comes, as it will
Sacrifice, mateship, loyalty and duty can become such a bittersweet pill.
Another lays down his life, lost to the flames
Another flag draped casket, please never again!
Remember the good times, leave nothing to regret
A hero was taken today, Lest We Forget.
Did he play cricket? ......Bob
Maybe I could ask his widow or his two young lads?
maybe his workmates or townsfolk, firefighters from his brigade or the neighbour whose property he died trying to save?
from somone who normally is in favour of showing respect and
honouring sacrifice for others, I truely expected better and am
surprised bob.
Its been pointed out to me that Ive read the post earlier by Bob in
the wrong way, (it was intended to point out the difference between the way this death and another have been treated by the press not to 'have a go".)
As such I feel I must apologise to Bob and do it here to 'reverse' the earlier post, as said I have read this the wrong way and 'seen red" as I was surprised especially coming from Bob. I should have 'cooled my jets" and not teed off as I did and maybe I'd have seen it the way it was intended.
So, I am sorry Bob, hopefully you can see your way clear to excusing my outburst.
All good, Digger. Been prone to some emotional outbursts myself, usually proportional to intake of Dr XXXX. My New Years resolution, bite tongue, & walk away. I think with my short fuse, I may have a very sore tongue. The Mods might have an easier life, though, Bob :p
