    CFS volunteer dies

We lost a CFS brigade officer yesterday, he was a family man and I believe about 38 years old.

And in the middle of our bush fire awareness week..

These people give to the community and ask for nothing in return. I had the unfortunate incident of having a tree fall on my house about three years ago and the SES ( State Emergency Services)volunteers came and very professionally removed the tree and tarped over my roof. They had my very grateful thanks and asked for nothing.

The firefighters are the same. RIP you have done everybody proud.

A tragic and very sad news, my thoughts are on his family and the firefighters community.
I am very worried for the firefighters that today are trying to stop the fires in the Blue Mountains.

It would be fair to say after going up there today that this CFS volunteer and his fellow volunteers saved my small property and a number of others, along with the skilled croppy from Hoyleton.

He was a well respected fellow a few doors down.

    Lest we forget.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    This is from his widow..

To our dearest family and friends,

It breaks my heart to write this, but yesterday my beautiful sweet husband, Andrew, died following a tragic accident where he was working as a volunteer fire fighter. Andrew died doing what Andrew did best, which was caring and looking after people.

We are very thankful for the multitude of texts, messages, calls and emails for support of our family. We are very blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful family and friends in our community of Balaklava.

I would also like to thank the brave volunteer fire fighters who, I know, did everything they possibly could to get my husband home to me and my two beautiful boys. This was a tragic accident and I want everyone to know that we do not blame anyone for what happened.

Andrew was a wonderful man, so kind, loving and caring. He was the very best husband any girl could wish for, and an absolute champion Dad - we know he just adored our family! Me and my boys, Thomas and Henry, will miss him immensely and it will be a long rough lonely road without him, but we know that we are loved, and we know we have the support of an entire community. Thank you!

We will advise of funeral arrangements in the near future

I believe they are looking at starting a fund for the family...
