I have only just started drinking beer in the last six months(couldn't afford rum anymore).
I started on VB and then went to Tooheys Old and dont mind Carlton dry and duff beer.

Coopers sparkling or pale James squire golden ale sheaf stout or reschs pilsner the sheafI mainly drink in winter.
Mostly XXXX because it doesn't give me a wicked hangover if I drink a ****load of it then only reason. The say they call it XXXX because Queenslanders can't spell beer...LOL!!!
Like Tooheys but I feel I'm recovering from an autopsy if I have too many.
VB or venereal bitter no thanks, Carlton Dry is Ok and draught I don't mind either.
The wankey stuff not a fan of it. Not that I don't like it but beer is beer who gives a ****!!
Trav
Just my opinion, but I really cannot tell the difference in taste between XXXX, VB, Tooheys New, Carlton Cold/Draught, Fosters and Crown Lager, as far as I'm concerned, Crown Lager is Fosters with a fancy label and different bottle, that way it sells here.
Thankfully brewers like the guys at Malt Shovel(Tooheys) and Coopers are still brewing in the traditional style, and realise drinkers like the taste of hops and malt in a beer.
AND, thank goodness for craft brewers, there's so many now, some good, some very good and some bad, but it's good when touring, you can find a craft brewary almost anywhere now, especially in country Victoria
I'm talking Australia only

When I was in Melb. a few weeks ago we got to know about a little brewery in Croydon called The Public Brewery The Public Brewery
So naturally we had to try a 'few'.
In short great beers and great place.
Tried their Citra pale ale and their Galaxy amber ale on tap and both are very good beers.
These little boutique/micro breweries are such a refreshing concept if you like trying different beers and as I do brew yourself.
The young head brewer there is more than happy to take you around and show you the brewing process.
Alll in all a bloody nice change to the mainstream mega breweries and an insight into what beer used to taste like before streamlined mass production.
Cheers,Hmmm

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
I can't recommend this one, neither worked![]()
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I must admit I am a Coopers pale Ale man myself, however with the explosion of mico breweries and range available even at BWS I often just buy anything a bit different to try and enjoy the experience of a new taste.
I was a fan of Red Back wheat beer but I have not seen it in a long time. Are they still making it?
