    Bus Driver Bashed.

As a bus driver, we are faced with idiots like this quite often. Have a look at this shocking video of a bus driver from one of our depots being set upon by a moron who is drunk and drugged. The bus driver was attempting to remove him from the bus because of his filthy language and drinking alcohol on the bus which is against the law.

Amended link as video is deemed too violent, just goes to show what these drunk/drugged mongrels are capable of.

Waratah - Raymond Terrace says it all - I though Windale might have got a mention as well.

Such behaviour is just not acceptable but happening more often.

The high point is that it would seem the guy in black came to the drivers aid - that also happens not as much as it should.

Can someone please explain to me how being drunk or on drugs is an excuse for violent, obnoxious & bad behaviour?

If you are drunk & turn violent it is your fault! Nobody forced you to drink or take drugs so how is that some sort of excuse?

It's like these Coward Punches, oh I was drunk so I should get off, sorry, you killed someone, you should be charged with murder, not manslaughter or grievous.

I get drunk occasionally, I don't go around assaulting or killing people (I usually fall asleep) or even looking for a fight, though I sometimes get 1 from SWMBO.

Just seems stupid to me that drink or drugs are somehow culpable but not the idiot that consumed them.

Thankfully it is not - about 40 years ago the defence of being drunk was struck from the books and can no longer be used as a defence.

After witnessing this and the cowardly assault of the 86 year old pensioner who was coward punched and robbed after being lured into a carpark I would like to know what the authorities and governments around the country are going to do about dealing with these animals.

I have had enough of the wishy washy society is to blame NIMBYs making excuses for these morons.

What was this bloke doing out if he had a history of violence? If the magistrate or parole board think these imbeciles are OK to let out into society, they should put them up at their place and go guarantor for them.

Before we hear, "but we have a system and they are entitled to their rights" diatribe, what about the rights of the bus driver who was simply doing his job and trying to do something about the moron making law abiding citizen's bus ride a misery.

The reason he kept up the attack was not just the drugs, it was the fact that his previous convictions and sentencing offered nothing in the way of a deterrent.

Bring back hard labour and chain gangs. There are plenty of environmental projects like removing noxious weeds along watercourses and bushland or removing litter and dumped rubbish from bushland instead of sitting in jail, getting tattoos and working out in the gym.

If I was a bus driver or one of those attacked, if the DH had been identified he would be waylaid in the dark and left a bit bent and broken.
It has always worked in the past.

Interesting, the TWU is talking about giving bus drivers self defence lessons, so they can defend themselves against these morons. What is the world coming too.

The problem is a large portion of bus drivers are in their sixties, makes it difficult to defend yourself against an imbecile who is off his head. There is a call to increase penalties for those who assault bus drivers, similiar to the penalties for those who assault the police or ambo's.
