I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

That was a really interesting read, thanks for posting the link. It certainly shows how western interference has stuffed up the region.

That article is a very good rendition of what has been said behind closed doors for near a century.

That depends on your views as to what stuffed up means. Is it just progress all things change. When do we draw a line in the sand and say nothing changes. Things change some for good some for bad Should we learn you bet but move on.
Do we need to learn from the past you bet but we also need to let go at times. Being confrontational at times just Clouds the issue.

I'll say it then. European governments, particularly the UK and France stuffed up the region with their modern colonialism, particularly the act of drawing lines in the sand based upon European national interests disregarding cultural groups. Palestine/Transjordan/Israel is one example, the dividing of Kurdish peoples between Turkey/Syria/Messopotamia (now Irag) another.

Both those areas turned out well didn't they!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Another example is in Asia where the British drew borders for Thailand, Burma, Bangladesh and India which completely ignored the tribal people group territories. For example, the Chins are divided across India, Bandladesh and Burma. Inside Burma are hundreds of tribal groups. The Burmans which dominate the Burmese Government took over after the British left and used the power of government to exploit the others, which is why so many people have fled Burma untill today.
Another example of this is in Africa. What a mess western powers have made of Africa.
Unfortunately, we are continuing to make exactly the same mistakes as in the past right now in Iraq and Afghanistan, playing off groups against each other. Colonialism doesn't work, except for the colonial power to exploit the people who are being ruled e.g. oil from Iraq.

It is a well known fact that the present situation in the Middle East is a result of the First World War's aftermath. Unlike the mess after WWII, that has been more or less sorted out (since '89), the WWI still shows its shadows today.
