I'm guessing most colonisers haven't exactly been kind to the indigenous populations, including the land of oz. I was recently reading about the original populations of the Japanese Islands who differ from the mainland invaders which constitute the modern Japanese lineages. Very few of the indigenous peoples have survived apart from isolated pockets in the North and they are very much considered second class citizens. I guess that's just humans all over.
