i believe it is not hard to get going,

put xp in to 98/2k compatiblity mode for that program and a couple of other little things and away it goes, i just dont happen to remember them all and dont have the time to play with it at the moment.

finding staff that like coming to work regularly is my challenge at the moment

Getting EPC (Electronic Parts Catalogue) Software Running on WIN2000 & XP

Follow these simple steps.

First you need to disable the ORBIX daemon that is running.
Go into Services, locate Orbix Daemon.
The Service Status will be shown as started – select STOP
Once it has stopped, change the start-up type to Manual or Disabled.

You will then require starting the alternate Orbix daemon.
It is located in C:IONAORBIX_2.3CBIN folder.
Double click on ORBIXDW.EXE

Then you need to start the database server.
It is located in C:UNICATEPCSOFTWARESCRIPTS
Double click on StartUnicatDB

Both of the above must remain running while you are using EPC!!!

Now you can simply run the EPC from the desktop icon the installation created.

Additional Information.
When you attempt to stop the orbixds daemon, you will get an error message, ignore it.
If you have firewall software, such as ZoneAlarm running, it will ask to allow applications to access the internet, this is ok, it will also ask to have some application running as a server, this is ok as well.
