Last Tuesday I was riding to work and I came around a corner in a quiet street and a car just pulled out a driveway on my left and I hit the back of the car trying to get out of the way. It's the first stack I have had where I have hit my face. All my years of mtb'ing never have I hit my face. First reaction was are my teeth ok cause I could taste blood, but it was from a split chin.

The car did not stop to help me.....not did another car that went around me whilst I was trying to get back onto my feet. ...<snip>
I can really understand why so many cyclists (motor and push) are now wearing cameras.

The one I was given (from super c) is O.K. but with the resolution almost impossible to read number plates unless they are really close. So if you get one, get high definition.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

People do jump to conclusions. This motorist is perhaps not the selfish lout the video makes them out to be. It's a fairly common type of bingle at left turn intersections and round-abouts. The car driver probably just turned to look back at the traffic exiting the round about to his right and moved forward thinking the motorcycle had already taken off. I've done almost exactly the same thing when a driver in front of me started to take off then stopped after I had turned to look the other way. It pays to remember that most motorists and cyclists are not deliberately out to cause trouble on the road.

Whoever said that the driver pictured deliberately rammed the motor bike? No, they just failed at a very basic understanding of the rules they should have learnt to get their licence, i.e. don't move forwards unless you are absolutely certain your path is clear. If that's a common type of accident then stupidity is common.

Happened to me about two years ago and I ran into the back of the other car.

Lucky for me I was in the disco and the other car was an old ute with a big tow bar. Total damage. One bent tow bar and one damaged ARB crush can.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

The comments on the video are pretty harsh, and I was just pointing out that it was an understandable accident given the circumstances. Not necessarily evidence the driver was "too stupid to be let on the road".

Totally agree, however most drivers follow motorcyclists far too closely. The majority of drivers who do not ride cannot appreciate that unless there is clear visual of the approaching traffic at a give way line, then inevitably you need to stop completely and put a foot down.

You have a very short memory

With the state on two wheels for the next nine days, South Australia Police are launching a safe cycling operation aimed at the education of all road users.
