or download trillian from

gives you all major message formats in one program... icq, yahoo, msn, irc, aim and it is free
Tried to download from this link but it redirected me to cnet. I WILL NOT download anything from there as ALL the programs you dowmload from that site are infected with spyware!
Been there, done that, and got a re formatted hard disk to prove it!!
CNET / download.com is just a file warehouse driven by advertising banners.
They distribute files that the authors upload and update for nothing and sell the advertising on the banners you see when you download a product. They dont package or manipulate any package you may download from them, they would have been out of business years ago if they did.
I dont doubt you may have downloaded a program with bugs from them once but that has nothing at all to do wih cnet or trillian.
trillian contains no spyware.
i installed it, scanned it and tried it before recommending it.
the free version has a tick box you can leave ticked or untick that says you will allow them to track which message formats you use but that is as far as it goes from my investergation.
enabling msn and yahoo opens your machine to the usual worms that infest those message networks, that isnt trillions fault, and if you use a DECENT antivirus program you wont have a problem at all.
I have no doubt at all as to the program from trillian you are reccomending and will download it if I can download it from their own site. However I have downloaded programs from Cnet some of which were very good but some were "tweaked or spiked" is what one of my friends in the game said. He also said it happens to some programs from them. I may have been a bit over the top in saying that they are all tweaked. This would be a physical impossibality.
I do have a up to date antivirus program, and since having to re format my hard disk due to a some type of a spyware program that down loaded a VERY recent virus (that since is dected by virus programs) I have no fewer than four anti spyware programs running. What one does not catch, another does.
If you are offended by my comments, this was not my intention, I can only base my opinion on what I have gone through and the reasons given by the experts who delivered their opinion on my problems. I could have had the infomation on my hard disk recovered at a price of about $700 or just start again from scratch which is what I did.
