Andrew
I'm finding it hard getting dealers to talk about discounts on a new Defender.
Has anyone heard of good driveaway pricing on a new Solihull built 2005 model Defender ?
Cheers in advance.

Why? They tell me they have plenty in stock for immediate delivery.
Hi hgb,,
theres been LOTS of discusion on delivery,,
from what i can gather,
since the dealers have to buy individual cars from LR,,
if LR dont happen to have what you want,,
then its the slow boat from England.

So they are not particularly interested in discounting vehicles that they do not actually have in stock to sell?
If by "2005" you mean manufactured in 2005 then I think it will be much later in the year. If you mean "take delivery in 2005" then you can do that now, with models built in 2004.
There are tiny but significant differences between Defenders. I was lucky and scored a bullbar, two remotes, rear tie-downs, CD player, 4 speakers and wall-to-wall shagpile carpet. Others who bought Defenders around the same time have had only two speakers, a casstte player and no tie-downs.
When I bought mine they had none in stock (so no test drive), a waiting list and a 3 month delivery time. No way they were interested in discounting the price under those conditions.
Trouble is, if I wasn't a committed (who said should be committed???) Land Rover nut I would have walked away and bought something else. Dealers aren't really interested in trying to sell the Defender, they know that the market is limited and only people who really want one anyway will buy them. I'm sure that profits are higher on the Disco too.

Well, it's not fully carpeted. You can see still bits of the walnut trim and leather.
It would seem there is a waiting list wherever you are in the world! I ordered a new 90 back in October, it was built on the 10th of February and will be at the dealers any day now.
I am buying a Solihul built, UK spec vehicle from Spain and importing to Scotland. Order time aprox four & a half months,
Order time from UK dealer aprox four & a half months and £6000 more.
Dealers dont seem interested in defenders any more, too much easy money from Discos and RRs
