Had a nasty one here today,
The prime mover brakes failed and turned the escort vehicle into a pancake against the cliff face.
Same road about 10 years ago, prime mover goes over a cliff, the Dozer lands on the cab. Ugly.

You need to take Madge out more..:D
Multiply $90 by 7... Even 'great deals' aren't cheap when there are so many of you.
As for the Gold Coast not being Queensland... no worries! It is where reality shimmers on the fringe of tourism taken to the Nth degree; basically, it's not Queensland. We do plan to drive from Dubbo to Karumba and follow the route taken by the two heroes in 'Never Be Unsaid'. If I ever re-write the novel I'll put them in a Defender, or maybe an old 1972 Range Rover. Then we'll come back down the coast and stop off in the Whitsundays.

Aah! that what it was, we were heading out to meet the daughter and SIL at Sizzlers,we got turned back towards our place at the gravel pit, so went via Ningi, hope everybody is OK as I know the people in there well, parents of 2 of my bus kids, from way back, going west on that road at that time can have the sun directly in one's eyes.
cheers
Yup! was a nice meal :)
...the gold coast certainly is Queensland and if you think it's not loved , check out the M1 on any sunny day.
....and what are you calling the gold coast? I live on the gold coast north of SURFERS PARADISE in a rural location a with approx 100,000 residents around me.
....if your whinge is referring to Surfers Paradise area at peak traffic hours , it's because it is so popular , north AND south traffic fills the centre then empties from it daily.
....everyone wants to live there....ask the local real estate agents.
Now the reality is you were out of sorts in a vehicle that you were unfamiliar with , in a very busy location that you were also unfamiliar with and blame it on the gold coast.
Fair comment. I am sure there are many great reasons to live on the Gold Coast, but just because lots of people want to live there is not one I'd list. The weather was bad, it wasn't peak hour as such but busy and again, simply because lots of people go there doesn't make it a great place to go per se, but at the very least well promoted. I think like anywhere there are the two sides,; the one the tourists see and the one the locals enjoy. There, that should smooth any ruffled feathers.
