I believe its a south aussie made show.

I reckon we need more of this type of stuff

The first time I saw this I couldn't tell if it was real or a joke but then there were enough small details that make you realise you're being had.

It reminds me of the first time I saw Today Tonight when I first moved to Australia. It just seemed so unbelievable and far fetched that I thought there was no way it was a serious show - I thought Aussies had a far more subtle sense of humour than I'd credited them for. I was a little dismayed when I found out that it wasn't a spoof show.
