I went to school with a guy who had all three traits of the Macdonald triad (bedwetting, firestarting, cruelty to animals). Turned out a real loose cannon nut bag of an adult.

He/she had gone quiet, making me think that the person/s responsible had either moved on or quit before being caught.

Picked a bad night to do it, 40 degrees today and tomorrow with total fire bans in force.

I do wonder if last nights was the same person. This woman is yet to be charged though.

I did see all the police at the scene doing forensics today when I went past.
Apparently they Charged her this afternoon....

So hopefully at least your spate of fires may slow down

Thank goodness. I read the paper after I posted earlier and it turns out we had a fire last Tuesday, which I had not heard about.

At least now when she gets a slap on the wrist, after her beak tells the judge that her dad left when she was a child and her mum never hugged her, and she goes lighting fires again, we will know who to look for.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Had the "pleasure" of coming across a young arsonist who I caught red handed lighting a fire about 20 years ago. Although I grew up in the country this was in the outer southern suburbs of Perth where we backed onto a bush reserve. I had to chase this little bastard over 3 fences but I did catch him as he ran into the front door of his parents home. I was so angry that I kicked the front door in as he'd just shut it, I grabbed him and made him phone the fireos and tell them what he'd just done. I then dragged him by his hair out the front of his house - no one else was home at his place - then threw him over each fence until we reached the fire he'd lit, we got there as the fireos arrived, and I made him watch the fireos put the fire out, all the time physically slapping him around and yelling at him.

I reckon this little darling will never have lit another fire again in his life, some people may think that I overreacted but I grew up in the scrub and I've seen what bushfires do and I reckon he got off lightly because he walked away breathing. I'm not a big bloke, LandyAndy will vouch for that, but deliberately lit fires are one of the few this that really get me worked up, there's no excuse for doing this and I don't care if their mums didn't hug them enough when they were little.

Sorry gents but I hate arsonists.

No apology required. I think it was lucky you got him and not me

Imagine the trouble you would be in if you did this nowdays, which is half the problem with these ****s.

I don't think I'd be able to help myself but to do the same thing again, I'm older and more miserable now so I'd probably react worse than I did then no matter how politically incorrect it would be these days.

Not trying to defend arsonists nor dilute the tragedy of fire, but it seems that most of Oz's arsonists live in Vic, SA or WA(ish).

It's kinda sad that Vic and SA in particular, go up in flames every summer. You can set your calendar seasons by it.

This strange statistic makes me think there is some complimentary or contributory factor. Maybe weather patterns, conservation regimen (backburning etc) or maybe it's flouride in drinking water.. I'll have a look on the google world to see if any real studies have been conducted.

Whatever it is, like most of us, I am sick and tired of fires this time of year, every year.

Cheer and hope all affected are unscathed.

    Cheers
    Ralph
