As long as there is breath in me i'll be subscibing. Dave you do a fantastic job, and everyone else behind the scenes. I have met lifelong friends, helped many who have contacted me through here while down here touring, and this site has also helped grow my business over the years. I am happy to pay even more, and no I am not made of money either!. My advice to people is if you don't like what you see, report it, or just stop following a thread. chill and enjoy life.

Jeez, fellas , I luv yous all. Does this mean I can post random threads without getting into a fight? Mind you, all my random threads have been read by some one. I would love it if the new format would allow members to post in general chat interesting threads [ interesting to some one] without being made to feel like lepers. I feel AULRO should move into the 21st century, or run the risk of becoming irrelevant. If we have to pay for the priviledge, that's what you get for being on one of the best 4x4 web sites in the world. And yes, I look at other sites on the forum. Just don't feel the need to advertise the fact. Bob

And look what happens when the system is down. Who is is that devotes their personal time to get it up running for the benefit of the mulitudes?
It's a thankless task. Good on you INC

I gotta say that I never saw this coming as I was only reading threads/posts that were relevant to me learning as much as I can about the recent LR's that I've purchased..... I'd never thought I would ever buy a LR and here I am with 2 of them, so being VERY NEW to the whole LR thing and lack of knowledge in all things LR, I sort of depend on this site in helping me to hopefully have a stress free ownership of LR's, catching things b4 they go pear shape, etc, etc. So, paying for that privilege is something new to me, even though it's something that I've only ever done once b4 on other site (Exploroz site), but I don't have a problem with it as the costs are very minimal for what you can receive from the forum....
If I wasn't in the need for the knowledge, etc that u get from this site, then I can see why some may have a problem with it, but again, the price is very small.....

As long as it doesn't increase at the same rate as our electricity bill up here in Qld increases.....

Obviously does not include the site upkeep and any development cost.

Not really economical to purchase server hardware yourself in my eyes
been thru this for months trying to find solutions that "will" work.

sadly this place would crawl on a vps that only cost that sort of money.

the litespeed web server costs alone would be that for the required 800+ simultaneous connections on most vps setups as that is the only way you could get it to cope..

I think the subscription is better value than any auto club road side assistance. I know that if anyone breaks down between Mackay and Cooktown I can organise a recovery. I can get their vehicle somewhere safe and provide acommodation. I know enough people in this area. Now I have bought the D3 with no warranty etc I must admit to being a bit nervous travelling until I get to know him. I would like to think that if I was stranded in some other part of Australia someone would help me out.
The other day when I ran out of fuel I was searching threads for computer reset as my guage was indicating fuel etc.
This is a great resource. If people want to post random stuff and start arguments then go for it. I love it. Keep up the good work.

I've been hanging around here for a bit over 11 years.

I've made some great friends and had many hours of entertainment from AULRO , there are other forums..... but I've never found one like this.

In the time I've been here, this place must have saved me well in excess of $5k...... (Probably north of $10K if I looked carefully.)

On that basis...at $11 a year... my break even point is a little over 450 years away. Looks like you are stuck with me for a while longer Inc.

Dave, I know it's been a really hard decision for you to make this change. I'm sure many here don't fully understand how hard.

Thank you for having the guts to try and find a way to make the site self sustaining which will benefit us all in the long term.

I'm sure most of us will stay and make sure that AULRO continues to be the amazing community it has been for so long.
