I feel he is to be congratulated for this decision. It's all been said above but for $11 where can you get the information, knowledge, experience, friendship etc etc that you find on this forum and the immediate response if you are in trouble somewhere and need help. Priceless is the word that comes to mind. Members who are virtually strangers will go out of their way to assist and even offer accommodation until you are on your way again. I realise that there are some who always take and never contribute back but I would urge them to have a think about it and consider the benefits of being a subscriber to this great forum.
A small fee spread over a lot of members ensures AULRO will stay afloat in the future and is a small price to pay. I am on a pretty tight budget myself being semi retired and having suffered a serious health scare in the last year but I would rather scrimp on something else rather than my subscription here. My 2c worth..
Might I take this opportunity to publicly thank brian for his support personally, going through some unpleasant times myself recently and can't thank him enough. The proof is right there for me, people, of the kindness of people in this community. now it is up to me to return it and then some. Onward and upward :-)

I think that all this discussion about $11 and value for money is not really relevant to the OP.

It seems to me that the issue was dissatisfaction with some of the content on the forum and that this was compounded by an apparent failure to alleviate his dissatisfaction.

BTW, I hadn't noticed that anything had changed. Does that mean that I am doing something wrong, or that I am doing something right, or that I am just unobservant?

I do sometimes wonder how much time some people spend reading threads that they don't think belong here.

Likewise, i would like to thank Brian, Justin and Matt (rovercare) for helping me out a few years back. If not for AULRO i would probably never have met them. Plus others at other times. I have likewise tried to help others when i can.

As for people leaving, Bush65 and rick130 are the only people whose absence i have noticed when they have been away...

I have always been amused when people feel the need to announce their departure (or return).

As for the new system. No problems. However i think subscription prices should be adjusted based on the newest landie you own, e.g. someone who only owns a 1948 S1 gets a free subscription, but a d4 owner has to pay $100 p.a.

Some people have big egos and feel that there departure will somehow affect the forum or the status quo, sort of shows what shallow and meaningless there lives have become if they feel they have to tell everyone there going. If you're not happy with AULRO, leave quietly don't make a big song and dance about it, I'm sure you're decuples will follow you.

As like forums, 4WD clubs or any organisation the show must go on like it or lump it. For example I left GCLRO, would like to think on good terms, because I moved interstate and my contribution was non-existent so my membership apart from being financial viable for there club was pointless.

This is my quote for the day....well for this topic

"Never waste your time trying to explain how good AULRO it is to those who are commited to complain about things that they are incapable to do themselves"

PS: I should know better going by my posts in AULRO FB page about the same topic

I will not be subscribing at present. I have been a subscriber in the past and have been a member of this forum for a long time, perhaps 15 plus years. I do click on the ads if there is something interesting. I have not owned a LR product for a few years and am unlikely to get another one in the near future so have no need for the technical areas and others have better knowledge of newer LR products. I would love a Disco 4 but it is not possible or practical at the present time. Who knows what the future will bring. I really dont spend much time here anymore as I am an admin on another forum and that takes up a fair bit of my time.
I hope this place gets sorted out and people continue to support it as it is a great resource for LR information.

Cheers (said with right index finger raised from my wheel)
