    VAST

Does anyone have experience with VAST?
I set up our dish this week while remotely camped but could only draw in the ABC and SBS channels, previously I have had GEM, 7mate etc. I reactivated the VAST and rebooted the STB. Am I missing something?

From what I read Richard,, locating the satellites is all important,, there are gauges to help,, also you have to sign up with the fed gov for some stations?

    Hi Pedro,

    Thanks for your reply.
We are registered with VAST and the satellite connection was at 88%, I am at home now so I will do a reboot later and if no go then ring VAST tomorrow

Yes it puzzles me also, SWMBO just won't go higher up the tree with the dish........

You say you are looking into these things, do you have one or are considering one?
I have a Satlink meter which, coupled with the Wiki Camps satellite finder which gives me the initial info and I am able to link up within a minute or two

I only have VAST to home. I do know certain areas will only get ABC & SBS but I thought that was all controlled by the registration data on your VAST box's SIM and only applied to static installations. I have seen where the SIM is stuffed and as they are encoded and paired to a single reliever the whole lot has had to be replaced.

Yep, heres what you're missing . If you are remotely camped I think you might be missing the beauty of the outback while you fiddle with you dish.

You certainly could be right..............for some, but not us, we only use it for news, some times at night a comedy on 7 mate and of course football during the AFL season. The news is important for bush fire warnings as where we are camped is forrest and we would want every opportunity to get out quick.

We don't miss the serenity of the bush, a lot of the day we will sit and talk and lots of cuppas.

For me to get VAST reliably i need a 4.5 m Dish, and a dodgy address in Australia
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
