It seems there is not enough motor racing in the world
( true!)
The new "A1" formula(sorry) see's IDENTICAL open wheelers racing in NATIONAL colours. One car-one country.
The idea is to get countries with no background or expertise in racing more involved.
cynical thought ahead--( I thought F3 was the F1 nursery :? )
anyway there are LOTS of rounds, ours is at Eastern Creek later in the year--
any one know who our driver is??

Sydney set to host new world motor racing event
Sydney looks set to stage a race in the new World Cup of Motor Racing in early November, with up to 20 countries racing identical Formula One-style cars for $1 million in prize money.
The new series will be known as the A1.
Australia, Britain, South Africa, Mexico and Brazil are among the nations to host races, with some of the biggest names in sport connected with the teams, including Brazilian soccer ace Ronaldo and former world racing champions Alan Jones and John Surtees.
The first race of the series will be at Brands Hatch in England in September and the Australian team chief, Jones, says the Australian race will be held on November 5.
"Sydney's fairly obvious in as far as that Melbourne's got Moto GP and Superbikes, Formula One, Adelaide's got Clipsal, Queensland's got the Indy and Sydney really hasn't got anything," he said.
"It's also the biggest capital city in Australia, so you know we're hoping that we can do something with the New South Wales Government and stage it there."
The New South Wales Government has confirmed its Major Events Board has been negotiating to stage the event.
Jones says an announcement on the race venue is expected in the next couple of weeks, with the Australian race car and its driver being unveiled in Sydney on March 30.
"We're not really going head to head with Formula One," he said.
"Everything's the same, down to the driver and the team you know? We start racing in September and basically finish in April, so we're going to be running at a time of the year when Formula One isn't running."
Ohhhhh, BRING IT ON!![]()

Former champion Jones heads Australian A1 bid
Former Formula One world champion Alan Jones says he has been given a second chance at reaching the top of world motor sport with the introduction of a new international series.
Jones will head the Australian franchise in the A1 Grand Prix series which starts in England in September.
Teams from 25 countries will contest more than 10 races with each race worth more than $1.2 million in prize money.
Twelve-time Grand Prix winner Jones says the series is a world cup for motor racing.
"Obviously winning the world championship was a major thing for me and something I'll always cherish, but the opportunity to represent my country in world motor sport arena, carrying the flag and operating the Australian team is just as exciting quite frankly," he said.
Jones is yet to choose the drivers for his team.
Sydney's Eastern Creek is likely to be the venue for Australia's leg of the series.
YEEHAA!!!!
