Raising $$ for VarietyWA [Perth Guys]

Hi guys. Kim and I are doing a car wash, sausage sizzle, bouncy castle, lucky number prize & raffle day at a local service station in South Lake next Saturday (Caltex Station, Nth Lake Rd near Lakes Shopping centre on 9th April).

2cents from every litre of fuel will also be going to Variety and we've even conned the local Mayor to come and wash some cars for a while in the morning.

We've got the local Rovers (that's the scout-type people, not the cars!) helping out with some car cleaning for the day, but if there is anyone else who's got a spare hour or so we'd love to see you down there too (even just to say giday and grab a snag).

I was thinking that we could set up a bit of a landie line-up at the servo as well, to show off our beasts (between 10am-12 would work the best), but I'm not sure how practical that would be - what do you think - is there any interest? Froggy will be there of course, with all her sponsorship colours on.

The local newspaper will be there from 10.30 to take a few shots and we're hoping to get an article in the paper the following week.

BTW the prizes Kim's got heaps of prizes for the lucky number lottery - every number wins a prize and most prizes will be worth well over the $2 ticket price (ranging from family pizza vouchers, through to BBQs, steering wheel lock, caps, nursery vouchers, back-packs, etc, and we're also picking up some donations from a couple of electrical suppliers in the next couple of days - looks like we might have about 300 items 8O )

For those who may not be aware, Variety is a world-wide charity committed to enabling disadvantaged and disabled children to experience a better quality of life which is done through the provision of goods and services. The organisation helps other children’s groups and charities as well as raising funds for its own initiatives. Kim and I are organising events like this to raise funds for Variety, and will participating in the VarietyWA 4WD Bash in June this year.

Anyway - hope to see some of you down there....

    Cheers

    Great idea

If you have the time grab some shots for the gallery.

If I was a bit closer I would be helping out as well.

Yep, we'll certainly try to take some photos - I might need to throw my camera at someone to make it happen, though!

    Cheers,

We were very happy with our efforts on Saturday - managed to raise about $600 from the car wash, lucky number & sausage sizzle. With the owner of the service station offering a percentage of the taking from his fuel for the day we believe that we should have over $1000 overall!

Both Kim and I collapsed in a heap when we got home on Saturday (about 5PM) and have used today to recover by doing very little.

Many thanks to Shano, Richard, Matt & Graham (I bet you were as tired as Kim, Graham!). With you guys and and our other friends (and the Cockburn City Mayor) we managed to pull it off - wouldn't have been possible without your help.

Of course the local businesses were again very generous with their donation of goods to raffle off.

    Thank again to those involved.

I grabbed a few shots, although unfortunately I missed the time where we had a couple of Rangies, a disco and a series bus lined up :-(

[Here's Graham & the Pelican Point Rovers in the middle of it.]

[Froggy taking pride of place :-) We had quite a set-up there - even more than we usually take camping - no kitchen sink, but we were close....]
