Thread: Good Insurance Company Experience

Had a good insurance company experience today.

Took the Disco in to RACQ for assessment of hail damage. Assessor was quite impressed with the condition of the car (95 Disco V8) and said I was actually under insured. I insured it for $4000 agreed value thinking that's about what you would pay to buy it even though it's worth a lot more to me.
They also had the vehicle salvage people there giving quotes for write offs. The guy quotes $3000 for it which would leave me with $400 after excess if I buy it back.

Assessor was really good, said that since it was under insured they would knock the salvage price down to $1000, so I walk out with $2400 in my pocket and keep the Disco.

The hail damage doesn't really worry me as it's just a weekend car to take fishing and camping.

It's amazing that even though the storms happened in late November there is still a constant stream of cars coming in with hail damage.

Very impressed with the service from RACQ and would happily recommend them to anyone.
