    Eastern Seaboard .

    I have noticed lately that news items over here in WA refer the east coast as the Eastern Seaboard , it was the East Coast when I lived there a yrs ago . Is that the norm over there now ( Eatsern Seaboard ) , sounds a bit Americana to me or is it just our TV stations saying this . I don't think were called the Western Seaboard but I could be wrong .

    Haven't noticed as far as i know it is still the East Coast over here. Will take more notice. I hate Amercanisms too.

    I always thought we had a coastline.....no I always KNEW we had one

    therefore we have east coast, south coast, west coast and north coast.

    we don't have a seaboard.....do we?

    it sounds bloody stupid.....lets not say it......just because we watch septic television.

    I grew up on the east coast of the USA and have always referred to it and have heard it referred to as just that.. The "east coast". Every now and then you used to hear "eastern seaboard" from weathermen/women when forecasting hurricanes, etc but that's about it....

    Reminds me of a time I was drinking in a pub in Tumut NSW and a visiting bartender from Young was on the bar.We got chatting and asked me where I was from. I replied South of the border, down Mexico way (refering to Victoria) He then was real interested about Mexico and wanted to know more. He asked me what the currency was in Mexico. So i pulled a $20 note from my wallet to show him.
    He remarked and said " that's the same as ours!"
    He never did get that when I said south of the border that I meant Victoria.
