    Thumbs down My Woes Continue!

Well, sort of. My transmission performed perfectly on my more than slightly modified trip to Qld and back.

Going up to Brissie and Noosa was fine except for wire being cut by my fan belt and disabling my MAF. Not too big a problem.

    Coming back was very different!

As many here know, I've recently had my auto rebuilt.... twice. The last time I was assured that the TC seal had been replaced as it was leaking (how they planned on re-using on old one I have no idea). Anyway, somewhere south of Coonabarahbran at a cuppa stop, I noticed oil spots on the rear door. Climbed under to find the entire underside coated in oil! Started cleaning it all off with a rag to identify where it was from..... You got it, my transfer was leaking.... actually, the oil was ****ing out.

Got to a mechanic and asked if he could please check my TC level for me. It took 2 bloody litres! For those who don't know, the capacity is 2.7 litres. The guy was very kind and only charged me $20 for the oil. I got another litre just in case and decided that the Snowy was now out of the question and headed home over 2 days. I got the other 1 litre in the following morning at Forbes. Had I not checked, I would almost certainly have been stranded with a seized transfer case somewhere in the boondocks of NSW

Got back and took the car to AMV in Ringwood. They found that the seal was actually leaking from 4 places, it had obviously been held together whilst they put the TC back in after the re-rebuild. AMV also found that the RH TC bracket was broken. They consider it likely that this would have been evident to the idiots who fixed my auto.

Well..... all up I'm out of pocket over $700. Guess who's about to take out a small claims case against one particular Shepparton based auto trans repairer if he doesn't cough up within the next 4 days

Some people should not be allowed to own or operate car repairs business
You do the right thing and i would also report the problem to the repairs association if he is a member.

    Wardy,
although 1 mechanic has let you down badly the other deserves a pat on the back and maybe even a plug in here? If he is like that he deserves any passing business we can offer him I reckon.. May be worth naming the GOOD BLOKE, (there is a "No name and shame policy" for shonky people but there isnt a "NO NAMING AND FAMING for good stuff!!)

    Hope things pick up mate!
