If soviets were the allies then who want an enemy.
The soviets "allies" waited for long time to see if the Germans and Soviets finished so weak that it will be easy to eliminate both of them.
Perhaps they wished that the Germans finished the soviets and then the allies have only to deal with a very weak opposition.
Back fired, but that it is another story or thread.

Furthermore (if you bothered to study the history) the USSR were only allies DURING WW2. They certainly weren't before or afterward.

I question the relevance of your comment as it relates to wartime, whereas now (in the real world) we are at peace, in relative terms.

Of relevance to the US containment policy and partnership with Japan, Russia is also in dispute of islands north of Japan BBC News - Russian president visits disputed Kuril islands and preventing a FORMAL PEACE TREATY between the two countries.

As posted above......again you're trying to create a false perception. As I wrote, during the war ONLY. You should look into it, may learn something for example, the Nazis were the enemy, not the German people, that shows a lack of understanding of massive proportions...
