Look What Arrived at Work Today!!!

The afternoon shift supervisor brought his pride and joy in today for us to look at. It's a 1953 FJ Holden and as he knew I have a soft spot for the old FJ he told me the other day he would bring it in so I brought my camera to work for a few piccies.

My first car was an FJ. which I owned for nearly ten years and when I saw this FJ, all the old memories came flooding back.

Here it is in all its glory, complete with skinny cross ply tyres.

The dash board complete with skinny steering wheel.

The "grey motor" with six volt electrics.

Everything is original as he could make it, without going overboard. Some of the prices he was quoted on things like a rubber mat for the boot at $400 is a bit pricey, so he is making one up.

Anyrate, hope you old blokes like the couple of pictures I took of it.

Whenever my brother or I point out a lovely old Holden our mother says, "oh yes, I remember when that came out. We used to love having the new models before they were for sale."

Lucky for her, my grandfather ran the Holden dealership in Camperdown, western Victoria.

    Lucky buggers.

    Thumbs up

Ausfree, that looks like a lovely example.
I well remember the "FJ Days",...twin strombergs (maybe triple SUs?), extractors, wade 113 cam, lowered, 13" wheels etc etc,.....those were the days!

That is a very nice FJ-215 (standard) sedan,I owned several early Holdens,48-215 (FX's) and 3 FJ's but they were all "Special's" FJ-225s my last one was a 56 model, button trim vinyl upholstery, dark blue over light blue, and a 55 with pleated leather trim which was 2 tone green dark over light, then I graduated to FE's and FC's had a EK for a bit and in 82 the wife and I moved to Qld in our EJ wagon towing a 6x4 trailer with all our kit complete with 2 cattle dogs and 9yr old daughter that, was a Looong trip!
only intended to stay up here for 6 months, still here 33 years later very happy in our little bit of rural paradise last Holden was a VC auto wagon, it went when we got our 1985 RRC which was followed by the 300TDI D1.

    cheers
