Parking bay widths vary depending on the use of the premises. For example, the narrowest spaces are 2.4m wide for long term parking at offices and such. High turn over parking at shopping centres is supposed to be at least 2.6m wide. I can guarantee that wherever you are, the architect designed the minimum width spaces so they could fit more in. And 90degree parking fits more in than angle parking so the only time it is used is where there isn't enough space across the car park for full length parking bays and an aisle.

Reversing is a bit limited in the vision department in the 110 so I try to either back in on arrival or find two spaces so I can drive through. Amazing how many people just blithely walk behind reversing vehicles and assume they will be seen. I wouldn't take the risk myself. What's the point of being in the right if you've been crushed by a car?

I can handle the pedestrians, but not the arseholes who park next to you, open their door,.....& "BANG" against your pride & joy &,... a nice little dent.

At least you don't have arseholes that drive down your street and do a turn in the driveway opposite and reverse into your car then drive off without stopping. My boys have each had it happen to their parked cars. If only I can catch them in the act.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

My wife just had that happen to her new 90...

Went into the gym for a session, when she came out some Miner from the office space next door had opened the door straight into hers, leaving a huge swathe of white paint and a dent...

She is not impressed...

Of course, they all bloody denied it.... :mad:

That would really **** me off. When I had my D1 you would be amazed how many people would just let there door swing open into the side of the car. The thing was, it had some heavy duty sliders on it[emoji1]
So there doors usually had a small dent in it! I caught 2 people who let it happen while I was sitting in the Disco.

Actually, my wife DID this to another car a couple of weeks ago. It was just before ex-TC Marcia came down and she was getting our of the car in the Caloundra hospital car park. A gust of wind caught the door and it blew out and hit a Subaru parked next door. Didn't even break the paint on the G-Wagen, but made a nasty dent in the door of the Suby.

She was mortified and left a long & apologetic note on the other car with contact details. She said it looked like a brand new vehicle.

That night the owner rang and was very grateful she bothered to leave details. Apparently the reason the car looked so new was that the owner had just had BOTH left & right hand side doors repaired from two other car park incidents. Of course neither of those people left notes.

We have the factory side steps (runners) on our 90, & I was wondering what protection they'd give to this sort of stuff.

Had my neighbour accross the road back into my RRC the other week - he had just moved in too... I parked it on the street to move the caravan around. Dave (Landover) and I were standing 10 metres away chatting and watched him carefully back out the driveway towards it, stop - so we thought he was going to go forward from there - then back up again straight into the side of it.

He was very appologetic, but geez it was some crap driving... It cost him (or his insurance) quite a few hundred dollars (which I am yet to see - must chase him up again...)

So do we... And for front doors on other vehicles they work well... ;)

She was in angle parking so her front door = the passengers rear door which of course has the curve for the back wheel = missed the side bar and straight into the panel :mad:
