When I have to reverse out of my local shopping centre I usually put the blinker on to the direction of which the rear will turn,as where I live there is a high percentage of elderly,poor sighted and hearing impaired residents that still hold a license, they are the ones that 'bump park" reverse until they hit something then put it in drive and away they go!
and people wonder why I have a pintle hook in my Hayman Reese socket.
Must admit I backed the corner of the Defender into the rear passenger corner of the wife's Yaris the other day while reversing into our carport at an angle. She came rushing out, rubbed her hands caringly over the scratched plastic, and then said, very meaningfully, "That had better polish out!"
Message received. Got out the polish and applied lots of elbow grease. Fortunately it did polish out. Very relieved.
Of course, the Defender was unmarked.
And they all think they are F1 drivers , They see a car park two lanes over & have to race there before some one else gets it & can't wait if you are backing out, they have to drive around you.
In response to the earlier comment re backing into spaces.
As we approached a parking space at Erina Fair this morning my wife said.
"Nose in so that we can open the tailgate to load the groceries from the trolley"
And it's true. If you reverse in the odds are that some idiot will park up behind you so close you cannot open the tailgate.

They all think they have to fling the doors open without a care of what we happen to be parked beside.
I have now activated the Lock when moving thing-a-me & don't take the key out of the ignition until I have warned all & sundry to open the doors carefully.
I did have the child locks on but the kids complained they were old enough to not open the door while moving & that I was treating them like babies.
I probably should have left them on because the kids act like babies most of the time.

I once had a snooty woman complain that I had parked my dented old Disco too close to her shiny BMW and she couldn't open the door to get in.
So, I pointed out I was parked between the lines, just like her. Then I opened my door, got into the Disco without touching her car, backed out, gave her a smirk and drove off. Silly nitwit!
I love it when they're parked over the line but you can still get your car in and when they come back they give you a serve for "parking too close"Quote:

I wonder how many people who reverse park on their work site do so when they go home? We hear tragic stories too often.
