Like most males I don't read the instructions I look at the pictures.
So where are the Bloody PICTURE'S!!!!!![]()
Some of you might remember the long drawn out exercise with the Storage in the Disco i had.
Well i'm into it again.
This time i'm faster and more refined. Bit like Steve Austin (6 million dollar man)
The plan is this.
3 seperate sections so i can have the back seat in, the LH rear seat removed and it will then be a 4 seater and the LH seat area becomes the are for the Eski/Fridge, and the final section is to replace the RH seat and make it a 2 seater.
So today i acheived the Folowing.
I created a false floor behind the back seat. This consists of a frame that sits 12mm lower than the side panels/boxes/wheel arches. The 12mm is to make sure the 12mm ply i'm using fits neat and Flush.
Its a basic box that i can later put Drawers in. For now i'll use plastic boxes or i'll stick the Jerry cans in there.
I then cut some ply and made it to the exact shape, it extends until it hits the back door, that way when the door is closed nothing falls down if its on top. (like my dog's Legs)
After i finished that i started on the LH seat replacement False floor.
This will keep the exact same hight all the way thru so i can sleep in the back. Main reason to get a Fender was so i can sleep in it, quicker Campsite setup.
It took me a good 5 hours to work out the angles ect, the rear box was a 4 hour job.
Getting the LH Seat floor right was a pain in the Tosh, but it looks great.
My 2nd battery will hide under there also in a Battery Box.
I'm trying not to drill any hole i dont have to thru the floor ect, but i might have to drill a few.
I'm going to post some pix in the Gallery, but that will have to wait until next weekend as i wont get the chance this week.
When i've finished i'm aiming to have a 2 seater Fender with a full false floor that i can sleep on and store all my stuff under it.
After i get back from the High Country in May i'll carpet it and add a few more bit that i find i need as i use it. Tie downs will be a issue to conceal.
I'm using Recessed ones for the Fridge tie down and i'll see what i can find to use in the back in the corners.
The RH false floor will store 3x 20 litre Water containers also. Its just the right height.
I've got to nut out the Jerry Can location, but for this trip i think i'll just mount them under the false floor or i might make a bracket with some Tie Downs and jam them in a corner.
I'm not keen to carry Jerrys in the Passenger compartment but i did not have a problem with the Disco.
Hey i might carry them on the bull bar between the bar and lights.
Useless in the Night as i wont see Jack, but i'll be right during the day.
I'd carry them on the roof, but i have no Roof racks that will fit.
I might have time to make a Rack, see how i go
I'll keep you informed of the Progress.
Steve
