Thread: The US created 295K jobs, reduced unemployment to 5.5%

Disagree Bob, food services were the biggest to gain with 59,000 jobs and they pay a lousy rate of something like $7 per hour, ( the workers survive on customers tipping) so it doesn't mean much!!!

I really don't think that you or I are in any position to agree , or not, with these figures. We can argue the point about Australian wage levels , but what is in the US, is. SO, I suggest it is much better having more people in their system, in work, all be it at low rates of pay, than not. The point you may have missed, is, perhaps their economy is starting to move in the right direction, for them. And us. Bob

bucket loads of job losses locally. Talk to most of my neighbours and its only a few waiting to hear about retrenchments and redundancy to are worse off. Few engineering shops have put off their employed staff cutting back to family and casuals.


For me as a tradie the last 3 years have been miles ahead compared to 1980-90's and with 3 young children,
