    Calling any art experts

I seem to have stumbled across an old water colour by an Aboriginal fellow named Albert Namatjira.
Now from my searching I've discovered that this picture could be worth quite a bit of money. Paintings of his that have sold recently have gone for between $9 000 and $45 000.
Can anyone out there tell me if this guy's done a lot of paintings of a place called Mount Sonder? I know that my particular painting was done in 1945, and Albert died around 1959.
Any info on his paintings of the area would be greatly appreciated.
    Sean.

Thanks Ace, I know he's a very well known artist, but I don't know an awful lot about his work.
You may recognise this portrait of him by William Dargie.

The pic wont show but here's a link

You have to be joking - never heard of Albert Namatjira, or may have heard of him - he is the most famous aboriginal painter that Australia has ever produced. His watercolours hang in all the major art galleries in Australia and probably the world.

If you have one of his paintings get it checked out by a professional.

I've heard of him garrycol, I just don't know much about his work. I know he started in his thirties and did about 700 pieces. Born 1902- died 1959 or there abouts.

What're doin here, pullin' the chain? If it is a genuine Namatjira, lock it up and hide it immediately and sell it to no-one, yet.

Take a pic of it and send it to the National Gallery in Canberra, see what their reaction is.

As was said, its serious, even more serious than some of the guys and their series landrovers.

or if not, I'll give you $10 for it.

If you decide to sell it watch out for the 'art sharks', they're worse than some car dealers or used house salesmen.

eg: sells for $100k they get $5k (max), you get the rest, not the other way around, get the picture?

a pun (geez, he's still got it).

    Cheers, GQ

how good is that, funnily enough I went and saw John Williams the other night, one of the blokes he is touring with is a nephew of albert, did you know that when he became famous he was allowed to live in the alice, at that time no aboriginals were allowed to live in town, other than him. Sad thing is he lived in a lovely house alone and none of his mob could come and see him, Williams was saying he (albert) was ashamed of the fact and died that way.....sad i recon.
