    I would tech screw the angle to the posts,using fine threaded screws.

    Then use pop rivets on the slats.You could also use tech screws but may not look very good as you will be able to see the end of the screws poking through.

    The difficult part of the job will be getting all the measurements correct so it all looks good when finished.

    Self tapping metal screws will drill and hold in 4mm no probs. Hex head gal coarse thread.

    The way they drill will make you wonder about why drill bits were ever invented for metal.

    You will need a good variable speed drill with grunt, battery or 240.

    Why the aluminum angle? If it was me I would just Tek screw the horizontals to the posts.

    Using the angle allows me to keep all the fixings on the inside of the carport. On the lawn side all you'll see is smooth, power coated slat.

    The screws are galvanised (assuming you use the right ones!) and the zinc layer provides galvanic protection for the holes. If in a severe corrosion area (e.g. beachfront) a spot of penetrating sealant may be indicated.
