    Registration / Number Plates

I have a question that someone may be able to answer , over the last week or so I have noticed a few cars sitting on the roads with no number plates . I'm thinking have these been stopped for having no rego , if so do the plates get removed ? Jim

Yes. I have seen lots of them and done the same myself several times.

If you are stopped by the police and your plates are removed because the vehicle is unregistered, you cannot drive it unless you hav a UVP.

It might be that people do not have the reminder of a sticker on there car to let them when the rego is due. I have left mine on my car so I can remember it. As people miss lay there bill and forget it. So I would say that we will be seeing many car pulled of the roads and there plates taken off. Heather

That's the stupid thing all govs seem to be moving to...doing away with rego stickers.
Considering the amounts they reckon they're saving are so small compared to the vast amounts they waste generally, it's pathetic.
I believe in WA the cops computer system has been so overwhelmed by rego defaulters they turned it off in patrol cars.

Btw: The system only checks that the plate is associated to a car that has had rego paid, it doesn't check that the plate is on that car . Ie Number plate recognition, not vehicle recognition. Pointed this out when i was working in the transport department. So..... pay rego for every car and do the right thing otherwise you aren't covered under CTP.

I keep a copy of my registration details in my glove box. Plus insurance details. Not saying I don't trust the new system to be efficient, and for it not to be influenced by human nature..... But I don't. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I also think the removal of rego stickers is just plain dumb. However, when your rego is due you do get enough reminders, my rego is due late next month and I have just today in the mail received my green slip reminder.

Shortly I will get the rego notice, so that alone is two warnings that rego is coming due. I only own one car but I could imagine if you own several cars, it would be harder to keep track of.

Nothing like looking at the rego label to find out when rego is due.

Get a chinagraph pencil and write it in the top RH corner of the windscreen.
